Manuel Pinar is a large format photographer based in Spain. His work is developed through a slow photographic methodology, combining field observation and precise composition.
His photographic practice is centred on long-term personal projects exploring landscape, memory and territory, examining the relationship between human presence and the natural environment.
Operating between the Basque Country and Andalucía, his work is part of a contemporary approach to large format photography in Europe, combining technical precision with a strong conceptual framework.
Using 4x5 large format cameras allows full control over perspective, detail and tonal range, producing images with a distinctive visual language connected to traditions established by photographers such as Stephen Shore, Joel Sternfeld and Ansel Adams.
All projects presented on this website have been produced using analogue large format techniques.
